Magnetism in lanthanide superlattices

Neutron diffraction studies of heavy rare-earth superlattices have revealed the stabilization of novel magnetic phases that are not present in bulk materials. The most striking result is the propagation of the magnetic ordering through nonmagnetic spacer materials.
