The Study of short lived species by electron spin resonance

Abstract:

The work described in this thesis consists primarily of the development of an Electron Spin Resonance (E.S.R.) spectrometer, having a very rapid response time and therefore capable of observing E.S.R. signals from free radicals within microseconds of their formation. The development has proceeded in three phases corresponding to response times of 1 millisecond, 50 microseconds and 1 microsecond.
