Crystal structure and magnetic properties of the quasi-one-dimensional compound (Ca1-xYx)(0.82)CuO2 prepared at room pressure

A solid solution of the quasi-one-dimensional cuprate, (Ca1-xYx)0.82CuO2 with 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.435, has been successfully synthesized at room pressure. Upon yttrium doping (decreasing hole concentration), the formal Cu valence of the solid solution changes from + 2.36 to + 2.00 without any significant change in the crystal structure.
