Diseases of the temporal bone should be diagnosed by high resolution computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Because of the excellent imaging of bony structures, CT is the method of choice for diagnosing pathologies of the external auditory channel, middle ear, and mastoid.
