Graphene tunnel junctions for nanoelectronics and biosensing: intrinsic electronic noise and response to environmental factors
This thesis is concerned with the investigation of Graphene Tunnel Junctions (GTJs) and their applications. GTJs are fabricated by feedback-controlled electroburning, which results in the controllable formation of nanometric tunnelling gaps. Tunnelling currents have been widely used to study electron transport through single molecules, however the scope of their practical applications remains limited.
