Unequal but fair? Housework and child care in a sample of low- to moderate-income British couples

This paper first discusses the reported distribution and perceived „fairness‟ of housework and child care in couple relationships from a gender perspective, and then uses this to inform a qualitative analysis of the same issues, drawing on interviews with men and women in low- to moderate-income British couples. As in previous studies, housework and child care were said to be performed disproportionately by women, but both men and women in most couples thought their arrangements were fair....
