Performance of MIMO systems employing co-located orthogonally polarized antennas in micro-cellular environments

Abstract:

This paper presents results of a tri-polarized multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel measurement campaign in typical room-room and floor-floor micro-cellular environments. By implementing the MIMO channels in the polarization rather than conventional spatial domain, we are able to co-locate the antenna elements at both ends of the communications link. This results in a compact system that would be a good candidate for future designs of mobile communications systems including handsets....
