A tri-polarized ultra-wideband MIMO system

Abstract:
We investigate the performance of an ultra-wideband multiple-input multiple-output (UWB-MIMO) system that employs three co-located, orthogonally polarized antennas at both ends of the communications link. Results show that at 1% outage probability, such a system can achieve 24 b/s/Hz spectral efficiency, which indicates a predicted capacity of up to 180 Gb/s for a full-band (3.1-10.6GHz) UWB-MIMO communications system.
