Systematic review of examination techniques for the central slip of the digital extensor tendon mechanism

Abstract:

Extensor zone three injuries involve the extensor tendon mechanism's central slip. If a closed injury is missed then a boutonniere deformity develops with associated morbidity. Poor central slip examination knowledge and skills may contribute to missed diagnoses. A range of central slip examination techniques has been described.
