Crossmodal correspondences: Innate or learned?

Abstract:

"Are Chimpanzees synaesthetic?" An affirmative answer to this question appeared recently in a Nature commentary on a study by Ludwig, Adachi, and Matzuzawa (2011) that demonstrated crossmodal correspondences in both chimpanzees and humans.
