Sirtuins are a diverse enzyme family of NAD+-dependent protein deacylases that control a variety of cellular processes including cell cycle progression, maintenance of genome integrity, and metabolic homeostasis (Asher and Schibler, 2011, Choi and Mostoslavsky, 2014).
