CIRCULATING CATECHOLAMINES, MELATONIN AND ENKEPHALIN IN MAN FOLLOWING ADMINISTRATION OF A MET-ENKEPHALIN ANALOG

Abstract:

The met-enkephalin analogue, D-Ala2-MePhe4-met-enkephalin-(C)-ol (DAMME), was given i.v. to 6 normal subjects. Elevations in plasma prolactin and growth hormone (GH) occurred in association with significant falls in plasma epinephrine and norepinephrine. Dopamine rose 90 min after saline, but this was not seen after DAMME. Circulating melatonin and met-enkephalin levels failed to change.
