Abstract:

The incidence of stroke increases with age and stroke is a significant cause of new-onset epilepsy in the elderly.1 A few small studies previously suggested that older patients with epilepsy and those with poststroke epilepsy tend to respond to antiepileptic drug (AED) treatment and are less likely to become refractory,2,3 but this relationship is underinvestigated.
