Young adults living with inflammatory bowel disease. A thematic synthesis of patient experience

Abstract:
Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) are the two chronic, untreatable conditions associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Despite the global rise in incidence of the condition, and with almost a third of the patients being diagnosed during childhood, little is known about young adult (YA) experience of living with IBD. In this review we aimed to explore the young adults’ (16–24) perspectives and experiences of living with IBD.
