A prospective, open, randomized, comparative treatment trial was conducted to compare the therapeutic efficacy of the conventional four-drug combination (chloramphenicol, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, and doxycycline) with that of doxycycline alone in oral maintenance treatment of melioidosis.
