In rheumatoid arthritis (RA) invasive tenosynovitis is associated with an increase in tendon rupture, although little is known about the mechanisms involved. We obtained specimens of noninvasive encapsulating tenosynovium, invasive tenosynovium, and wrist joint synovium from 28 rheumatoid patients.
