THE ADSORPTION OF WATER ON NA(X)WO(3)(100) SURFACES - A STUDY BY PHOTOEMISSION

Abstract:
The adsorption of water on the (100) surfaces of sodium tungsten bronze single crystals has been studied by photoemission at hv = 40.8 eV. No adsorption is found at room temperature, even on highly defective ion-bombarded surfaces. However, at 140 K, molecular adsorption occurs with preferential stabilisation of the molecular 3a1 valence level. © 1993.
