Co-operation between cytosolic and plastidic oxidative pentose phosphate pathways revealed by 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase-deficient genotypes of maize

Abstract:

The aim of this work was to examine the extent to which the oxidative steps of the pentose phosphate pathway in the cytosol contribute to the provision of reductant for biosynthetic reactions. Maize (Zea mays L.) contains at least two loci (pgd1 and pgd2) that encode 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase.
