Essays on international trade and globalisation

Abstract:

This thesis contains three papers on globalisation and its effects. The first two chapters study the labour market impacts of international trade in contrasting contexts. Chapter One uses the recent surge in Chinese export growth to study the effects of a manufacturing trade shock on workers and firms in the UK.
