Micromechanical testing of stress corrosion cracking of individual grain boundaries

Abstract:

Grain boundaries of different misorientation and chemistry have differing susceptibilities to stress corrosion cracking but carrying out mechanical tests on individual grain boundaries of known character has until now been very difficult.
