INFRARED-ABSORPTION SPECTRA OF AR-OCS AND KR-OCS VANDERWAALS COMPLEXES IN THE CARBONYL STRETCHING REGION

Abstract:
Direct observations of infrared absorption in the van der Waals complexes Ar-OCS and Kr-OCS, produced in pulsed molecular beams, are presented. Diode laser spectra in the carbonyl stretching region at 5 μm were recorded with full width at half-maximum linewidths of approximately 100 MHz. These spectra were analyzed in conjunction with rotational constants for the ground states, known from microwave experiments, to obtain excited state rotational constants. Ground and excited state structures, which are quite similar, are discussed. © 1989.
