Photon-number squeezing by spectrally filtering light from a semiconductor waveguide

Abstract:

The increase in the degree of photon-number squeezing due to spectral filtering is examined using a 2-mm AlGaAs semiconductor waveguide. A mode-locked Ti:Sapphire laser is used as a pump source for an optical parametric oscillator to generate approximately 115 fs pulses with a repetition rate of 81 MHz and wavelength of 1.5 μm. The results are discussed in terms of spectral correlations induced by self-phase modulation. The photon-number distribution of the output beam is found to be dependen...
