RAPID MODIFICATION OF GRAPHITE-ELECTRODES BY SURFACE-BOUND CHROMIUM COMPLEXES - PREPARATION OF AN ELECTRODE FOR DIRECT (UNMEDIATED) ELECTROCHEMISTRY OF THE BLUE COPPER PROTEIN, PLASTOCYANIN

Abstract:
The contrasting substitutional reactivities of chromium(II) and chromium(III) have been exploited electrochemically to incorporate stable chromium(III) complexes at the surface C-O functional groups of 'edge' oriented pyrolytic graphite: the modified electrode binds the 'blue' copper protein plastocyanin reversibly, promoting persistent and well-behaved direct electrochemistry.
