Electrical inhibition of identified anorexigenic POMC neurons by orexin/hypocretin.

Abstract:

Proopiomelanocortin (POMC) neurons of the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus (ARC) suppress appetite, and lack of POMC-derived peptides or electrical silencing of POMC neurons causes obesity.
