A 'New Field' for the 21st Century? Rationale for the Hexapla Project, and a report on its progress.

Abstract:
The Hexapla Project emerged from a ten day seminar on Origen’s Hexapla held at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies, Yarnton Manor, in 1994. It became clear to the participants that what was needed to develop further studies would be “a Field for the twenty-first century”. Progress in technology led the scholars involved to favour an electronic database of material that could be easily updated as new material was discovered, and searchable for attributions, witnesses, and lexical items.
