This thesis describes work on niobium single crystals purified by annealing near to the melting point under a vacuum of ~ 10⁻⁸ torr. The pure crystals were deformed at temperatures in the range 4.2°k to 300°k at strain rates of ~ 10⁻⁴ sec⁻¹
